The district of Bale, located near Rovinj,Vodnjan, Kanfanar and Svetvincenat is a preserved area of Istria that has avoided all forms of devastation and today the locals can say with great pride that their home is an area of pristine beauty featuring abundance in natural wealth, untouched nature and rich cultural and architectural heritage. The district of Bale spreads over 81, 65 square kilometres and has a population of 1295 people.
The town of Bale, entirely made of stone, embodies Istria's tradition and has been in existence, according to archaeological research, since the Roman period. Fort Bale protected the trade route between Pula and the interior of the peninsula. The Roman Castrum became a walled little town in medieval times. It was first mentioned as Castrum Vallis, that is Valle in 965. Today the Roman Castrum Vallis is a small town whose historical core is located 145 meters above the sea level, surrounded by hills. The Italian name Bala – Valle means valley, and Bale is the valley positioned between hills Monleme, Skvacota, Pizanovac and Veli Majan; Pastrovicev vrh, Sv Nedjelja, Brigonera, Mongrizeja and Sokol. Built structures existed on those hills in pre-historic times.
However, Bale is not just a town. The district of Bale forms a whole with arable land, pastures, forests in which one can easily come across the remains of old buildings, Roman roads, water tanks, wells, Roman villas, oil presses, churches…
You can enjoy peace and tranquillity in Bale, go on a sightseeing expedition to the Gothic-Renaissance kastel (village) Soardo-Bembo, visit the 19th Century tower in the heart of the town and the parish church, take a peak into Town Hall with its 14th Century logia…
The 45th parallel goes straight through the narrowest part of the district of Bale, which means that the district is ideally positioned as regards the planet – half way between the Equator and North Pole. The average temperature in Bale is 14 degrees centigrade and the town has 2400 sunny hours on average a year, which has attracted huge numbers of tourists to the place.
The silence that reigns over the paved alleys of this town can almost be heard and that is just one of a whole plethora of reasons why one should visit Bale – a jewel surrounded by the greenness of the flora and blueness of the sea.

  Welcome to Apartments Stone House in Bale!
My wife and I are 50 something year olds and proud parents of a daughter who is studying Psychology in Triest, Italy. While holding regular pay jobs we are also into tourism and in production of Olive Oil.
My wife is an excellent cook of traditional Istrian cousine including pasta and homemade cakes. All the while, I'm an outstanding grill chef.
Our main goal is to make all our guests feel like at home and their satisfaction is most important to us. We also thrive to give our guests the best possible experience so that they consider us as their hosts for the next year.

About our vacation houses
Apartments Stone House are two detached houses that are located at the same address, situated in one courtyard.
Apartment Red Romantic (ID1) is a detached house surrounded by greenery and palm trees, ideal for couples and romantic holiday. Cottage consists of a living room, kitchen with fireplace, bathroom (toilet / shower) and a terrace with a beautiful view of nature and the environment.
Apartment Stone House (ID2) is a holiday home that can accommodate 7-8 persons. The house consists of a fully equipped kitchen, dining and living room, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms (toilet / shower) and terrace in front of the apartment, in the courtyard.
Both apartments have air conditioning, satellite TV, Internet..
For our guests, we have provided parking space and bicycles free of charge, a large yard and garden with garden furniture and barbecue.
In our offer, we also have domestic wine and domestic high-quality, award-winning olive oil, and traditional Istrian meals.
Here, in Bale, you can spend your quiet and relaxing holiday in a true historic Istrian town with beautiful Istrian scenery. There are four sand beaches only 6 km away set in a very peaceful environment.
Bale is a little Istrian village located in the municipality of Bale, near Rovinj, Vodnjan Kanfanar and Svetvinčenat. This is a preserved area of Istria that is saved from all forms of devastation, and is characterized by superb natural resources, untouched nature and rich cultural and architectural heritage. Bale as a town has many restaurants, a museum of Dinosaurus, galleries, castle from Victorian era, a big church dating back to 16th century, historic monuments, recreation and sport areas (backetball and football fields).
In off-season period we also include festivities like genuine Istrian olive oil, local wine, prosihutto (ham), mushrooms and recreational bike trails (bikes included in the offer), domestic specialties including food and hosts always at your service.
Rovinj is only 13 km away (St. Eufemija), Pula 20 km (Colloseum) and Pula Airport 25 km.
