Welcome to Supetar!
With its 3500 inhabitants Supetar is the biggest settlement on the island of Brac. Supetar is located on the northern side of the island of Brac, in the St. Peter bay by which it was named. Today, Supetar is one of the main tourist centers of Dalmatia. Supetar is connected with Split by a pleasant 45 minute ferry ride which sails 15 times a day to the administrative, cultural and transport center of Dalmatia.
With its beautiful natural surroundings, countless beaches and coves in the area, quality accommodation in our beautiful apartments, rich and various gastronomic offer, entertainment, sports and recreational facilities (football, tennis, diving, aquapark, water sports, jet ski, parasailing, bikes, scooters, quads, atvs, kayaks, pedal boats, boats, sailboats …), Supetar meets the high standards of Brac tourism.
Apart from pure pebble and sandy beaches surrounded by tamaris and pine forests, Supetar offers everything a city can offer: coffee bars, bars, beach bars, restaurants, beach restaurants, dance terraces, disco clubs … Most restaurants in Supetar offer local Dalmatian and Mediterranean kitchen, along with some famous Croatian and international specialties.
You can also enjoy in numerous cultural monuments like parish church of Mary’s Annunciation from the 18th century, with the bell tower and the church museum. In addition to the church you can see early Christian mosaics from the 6th century. The present church was built on the foundations of the early Christian basilica dedicated to St. Peter, to who we owe the name of today’s Supetar. The white dome of the neo-Byzantine mausoleum of the Petrinovic family dominates over the bay of Supetar. It is located in a cemetery near the church of St. Nikola. Beside it are two early Christian sarcophagi, and below the cemetery are the ruins of the Roman ‘villae rusricae’. Above Supetar you can find one of a total of 19 preserved early Romanesque churches on the island of Brac, the church of St. Luke from XI. century. Church is famous for the oldest preserved ship display in Dalmatia, which is engraved on the wall in the church interior.
Around Supetar, mostly in the olive groves and vineyards, but also elsewhere on the island of Brac, you will see numerous round stone polished, dome-roofed, ground-floor cottages. It is assumed that this is exactly how the first habitations of the prehistoric man looked like.
You can find variety of organized excursions from Supetar to the surrounding islands of Hvar and Vis. Due to its excellent traffic connections with the nearby Split, visitors can explore the rich and famous history of neighboring Dalmatian towns such as Trogir, Solin, Omis, Sibenik or visit some of the natural sights of Dalmatia, such as Cetina river, Biokovo mountain and Krka river.
Despite the tourist openness of Supetar, you can always find a quiet corner where you can enjoy the environment with a glass of wine and a pleasant conversation. Famous dalmatian hospitality is present at every step.
